Gardening for Healthful Living

Post by notmartha »

Part of healthy living is eating a healthful diet, which means avoidance of gmo’s, pesticides, and herbicides. The best way to make sure you are eating food as the Lord intended is to grow your own. I enjoy reading older gardening books, (especially during the winter months) with their more organic and simple methods. There are quite a few available free in the public domain. These are some interesting e-books I came across:

Gardening for the Million by Alfred Pink; An A to Z in depth gardening encyclopaedia

Gardening Indoors and Under Glass by F. F. Rockwell; (1912) A Practical Guide to the Planting, Care and Propagation of House Plants, and to the Construction and Management of Hotbed, Coldframe and Small Greenhouses

Manual of Gardening (Second Edition) by L. H. Bailey; (1910) A Practical Guide To The Making Of Home Grounds And The Growing Of Flowers, Fruits, And Vegetables For Home Use

Home Vegetable Gardening By F. F. Rockwell; A complete and practical guide to the planting and care of all vegetables, fruits and berries worth growing for home use

In-Door Gardening for Every Week in the Year by William Keane; (1865) Week by week suggestions for maintaining plants in greenhouse, hotframe, cold bed, etc.

Beautiful Gardens in America by Louise Shelton; (1916) Garden designs around the country.

Organic Gardener's Composting by Steve Solomon; modern, public domain book – very informative!

Making A Rock Garden by H. S. Adams

The Amateur Garden by George Washington Cable; (1914)

Culinary Herbs: Their Cultivation Harvesting Curing and Uses by M. G. Kains; (1912)
