Privacy

Post by editor »

I've been meaning to create a new Main Forum topic entitled "Privacy", but discussions of privacy should rightly go under Property Rights, since your body, and all of the God-given rights you possess are actually your property.

What has prompted me to do this today, is an email from an over-enthusiastic reader who set out to do us a favor. Here's his email:

==================
Greetings and Salutations.

i put a page up on face book called The Lawful Path here is the link...although it does not seem to be acting as a usual link...i do not know if you can click on it but it should be able to be found easily enough....i hope, so that you can take a look at it.

https://www.facebook.com/pages/The-Lawf ... 7203508731

i am hoping that was ok. it is open to the public and is community sponsored.

if you do not agree with what i did let me know and i will delete it if i can.

Thank You for Your Moment in Time.

Public Minister, Citizen of the Saints, Ambassador of the Christ.
==================

And here is my response:

==================
It seems you meant well, but to be honest, I feel like I've been raped.

We intentionally do not use Facebook, because Facebook is owned and operated
by the NSA. The same people who are illegally tapping all the phones on the
planet, including those of innocent American citizens. The same folks who
intercept all the Internet traffic they can get their hands on.

While it is a certainty the NSA knows all about the Lawful Path (a public
website such as ours is in plain sight, so we're not hiding), and I'm just as
certain they'll be reading this email, actually USING Facebook gives the
appearance that we APPROVE of such illegal and un-Constitutional activity,
which we do not.

Just think about it, my friend: Facebook is a platform which encourages
people to voluntarily share all the little intimate details of their lives,
including photos, and places they commonly visit. Private details it would
cost the NSA billions of dollars to acquire through illegal covert means,
people in their ignorance hand over for free. The poor victims even spend
hours every day of their own time, keeping their own surveillance profile
current.

I watched a video a couple months ago, you should watch. Here's the link:

http://www.viralviralvideos.com/2013/11 ... ion-prank/

It took me about ten minutes to find that link just now. The reason is that
there are now SO MANY of these types of pranks, it's hard to find any
particular one.

I was amazed to see dozens of links to recordings of people calling the NSA
and asking them for copies of lost emails or forgotten passwords.

I do not think you intentionally set out to do a wrong. I appreciate it when people post links on their own sites, and even their own Facebook pages, which lead back to the Lawful Path. But the use of our
name and logo is proprietary, and I do not approve this use of it. We will
never use Facebook.

Please disable the site if possible. Otherwise please post this email as
prominently as possible, at the top of the page, so that Facebook will take it
down themselves :-)

I would question the integrity and motive of any one that would do this without asking permission.
And I am being very kind here.

I've had several correspondences with this fellow, and I really think he was trying to do a good thing, but just hadn't thought it through. He did the right thing, and removed the Facebook page immediately. He has also written back on one occasion, and asked permission to post links to a few of our pages. I don't see any malice here.

To most of us it is obvious that any website is the intellectual property of whomever owns the domain. Creating a Facebook page in some other website's name; using their logo and posting documents from their site-- in essense, creating a mirror site over which the owner of the original site has no control, is no different than setting up your own hamburger stand on a busy intersection, and slapping McDonald's logo on your sign, just because you like their hamburgers. It's a whole different thing from putting up signs telling people how much you like McDonald's hamburgers.

Have you ever watched People's Court? Quite often one of the parties is so obviously in the wrong, but seems to truly believe he has done the right thing. I think to myself, "How can he possibly think he's right?" But he does. I've seen it too many times to think otherwise. I think this really underscores the need for sites like The Lawful Path, which help people to better understand God's true Law.

Those of you who have read more than just a few of the documents in our Reading Room, have undoubtedly gained some perspective on law which you didn't have before you found us. That's why we're here.
