Doesn't the Government Work for Us?

Cops, bureaucrats, and elected public servants all work for us, right? Isn't that what is called an agency?
If the People hire from among themselves, certain people to run the government, then the People are the principals, and the government workers are the agents. The way agency works, is the principal assigns certain rights to the agent. If the principal doesn't have a right or authority, then he can't assign it to the agent because it was never his to give.
The police, military, et cetera, have the right to lawfully carry guns only because the People have that right.
If they try to take that right away from the People, but still continue to carry guns themselves, then they have become usurpers, acting unlawfully, and they must be fired.
