My wife and I have a 3,000 square foot garden that we grow pretty much year round where we live. I eat a macrobiotic diet and the garden is a big part of eating healthy. Most people rely on grocery stores that when the stuff hits the fan will dry up quickly. Plus, most of the "food" found within is full of chemicals and GMO.
