What if the “Sky is Falling!”

Post by notmartha »

Matthew 24:6-8 -
And ye shall hear of wars and rumours of wars: see that ye be not troubled: for all these things must come to pass, but the end is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

The rumors are running rampant.

Russia Is Building Fallout Shelters to Prepare for a Potential Nuclear Strike

US Nuclear War – “We are in grave danger”

Putin tells US it Will Get War “Everywhere”

And the DEFCON level was purportedly increased to 3:

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8 P.M., Thursday, October 13th, 2016. Condition code is Yellow. DEFCON 3.

Tensions between Russia and the United States have reached levels beyond the cold war in the recent week.

The situation between Russia and the United States is extremely fluid at the moment. In all likelihood as dynamic as at times during the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962. Mainstream media has taken a very serious tone concerning the change from diplomatic to military options between NATO and Russia. CNN stated, “It's not a new Cold War. It's not even a deep chill. It's an outright conflict.” On October 10th Former Soviet Premier Gorbachev is quoted as saying, “I think the world has reached a dangerous point.”

There are signs of a potential growing large scale conflict in nearly every geopolitical hotspot including Syria, Yemen, Ukraine, and the Philippines. Syria is seen as one of the trigger points to the renewed tensions between the United States and Russia. The United States has also accused Russia of a cyberattack and meddling with the US Presidential Election. White House Press Secretary Josh Earnest promised on Tuesday that the U.S. would deliver a “proportional” response to Russia’s alleged hacking of American computer systems. The US and Britain are also expected to weigh into Syrian military options on Friday. This could increase tensions between the two superpowers to a greater extent.

Moreover, Houthi rebels on the South Coast of Yemen fired one anti-ship missile at the U.S.S. Mason on Sunday, and another on Wednesday. The Pentagon responded by firing 5 TLAM missiles at radar stations inside Yemen. Around this same time, Iran dispatched a fleet of ships to the area. The U.S.S. Eisenhower Carrier Strike Group has also been dispatched to the area.

At this time, the DEFCON Warning System feels that an increase to DEFCON 3 would be a prudent move. The situation is currently fluid with diplomatic ties strained and military threats coming from both sides. Russian media is reportedly telling its citizens to prepare for nuclear war. Russia has recently conducted civil defense drills and completed inspections of underground areas to house government officials and some civilians in the event of nuclear war. This is a very sensitive situation which has the potential to spiral out of control. It is recommended that all citizens learn the steps to be taken in the event of nuclear war. We will continue to bring updated information as we receive it.

The DEFCON Warning System is an analytical reporting organization which focuses on nuclear threats against the United States and offers an alert code to the public based on current events. It is not affiliated with any government agency and does not represent the alert status of any military branch. The public should make their own evaluations and not rely on the DEFCON Warning System for any strategic planning. At all times, citizens are urged to learn what steps to take in the event of a nuclear attack.

If this had been an actual attack, the DEFCON Warning System will give radiation readings for areas that are reported to it. Your readings will vary. Official news sources will have radiation readings for your area.

Breaking news and important information can be found on the DEFCON Warning System message board and on the DEFCON Twitter feed DEFCONWS. The next scheduled update is 6 P.M. Pacific Time, October 20th, 2016. Additional updates will be made as the situation warrants, with more frequent updates at higher alert levels.

This concludes this broadcast of the DEFCON Warning System.

While I try to “be not troubled,” I do try to find and implement the best ways to protect my family in case of any kind of disaster. If “ground zero” for a nuclear attack was NYC or DC, my property is in potential danger for fallout. So I’m researching effective but economical basement fallout shelters.

The National Archives has some info and photos from the Cold War days :

This free book has loads of information about fallout with plans for a variety of shelters:

The best preparation, if and when possible, is to choose a relatively safe location. To that end, and in many other aspects, Joel Skousen's book Strategic Relocation is invaluable. This book is an update of material Skousen has compiled and maintained for many years.

Even years ago, Skousen examined the locations of likely nuclear targets throughout the continental U.S., and compared them with prevailing weather patterns, mapping out likely levels of radioactive fallout. Then he recommended areas in the country which would likely suffer the least, given all the data at hand.

The farm on which I currently live was chosen by my parents, back in the early 1980s, based largely on Skousen's advice. We are in a relatively small pocket in which the prevailing west-to-east weather pattern tends to split air currents which then run past us on both the north and south sides. It has been interesting over the years to watch radar and satellite weather images, and observe large storms slip past us above and below, giving us the rain but relatively little wind.

If you live within the actual blast radius of a likely target, even something like this would help.

Thank you for the book suggestion. I've heard Joel talk about the books on the radio, they look like invaluable resources.

Unless some rather huge hurdles are jumped, and really big doors are opened, we are staying put and need to make the best of our current location. I'm not in the blast zone of a likely target, but fallout is a potential problem.

What a blessing it must be to have extended family on board, looking out for you and yours.

Do you believe your property is out of danger of any fallout? Do you have a plan / shelter in place in case of fallout?

Anyone else?

DEFCON lowered to 4.
http://defconwarningsystem.com/?p=185

This is the DEFCON Warning System. Alert status for 8 P.M., Thursday, October 20th, 2016. Condition code is Blue. DEFCON 4.

There are currently no imminent nuclear threats against the United States at this time, however there are events occurring in the world theatre which require closer monitoring.

The United States suffered major embarrassment and a strategic setback when its plans for a cyber-attack on Russia were exposed prematurely. While the plan seems to have been called off or at least delayed, plans of the attack confirmed Russia's paranoia about an aggressive United States. Of course, Russian cyber-attacks on the U.S. continue. It is unknown how significant a U.S. attack on Russia would have been. Russia has made it clear that any cyber-attack against it would be met with a military response, including nuclear. It is difficult to assess how much of the nuclear threat is bluster, however recently there have been a large number of Russian subs spotted off the U.S. coasts. The U.S. military is having a difficult time finding and removing them.

Russian attacks in Syria continue unabated. Additional sanctions have been threatened against Russia, but Russia is playing from a strong hand, feeling that the West is too weak to carry out any significant action against it, and this assessment currently seems correct. At this time, it appears that Russia will continue to act without opposition. It remains to be seen what Russia will do after the U.S. election results. It appears Russia fears a Clinton presidency, and it is always possible that they may take steps while a weak U.S. president occupies the office.

Russia has suspended an agreement to eliminate weapons-grade plutonium, citing U.S. aggressiveness. Additionally, Russia has deployed nuclear-capable Iskander missiles in its western-most region, Kaliningrad, which borders on NATO members Poland and Lithuania and within striking distance of Western capitols. Russia also plans a permanent naval base in Syria, adding another warm-water port to its Navy and is working with China to counter U.S. missile defense systems.

The Philippines continues to move away from the United States as it seeks arms from Russia, while the United States is to expand its presence in Black Sea, an area close to and widely seen by Russia as a Russian area of influence. The U.S. also plans to send detachment of Marines to Norway, which is certain to anger Russia.

This concludes this broadcast of the DEFCON Warning System.
